By Keisha Hatchett,

Leo D'Amato is back, baby! Max Greenfield is headed to Hulu's revival of Veronica Mars, Deadline reports.

Before his swoon-worthy turn as Schmidt on New Girl, Greenfield recurred as the hunky Sheriff's Deputy Leo D'Amato in the original three seasons of the cult classic starring Kristen Bell. D'Amato eventually worked his way up to detective with the San Diego Police department, as the 2014 Veronica Mars movie revealed, so it's safe to assume he'll probably still be working in law enforcement for the upcoming limited series.

In addition to Greenfield's return, Patton Oswalt steps into the Veronica Mars universe for the first time as Penn Epner, a hapless 40-year-old with not much going for him except the title of "best pizza delivery guy in Neptune" -- something he can't stop bragging about. And while he might be a pizza delivery guy by day, his real passion is in true crime. When he's not bringing you a hot pie in thirty minutes or less, you can catch him hitting up unsolved murder websites. Yeah, he's a real keeper.

The revival, which is expected to arrive in 2019, will consist of eight hour-long episodes and find Veronica investigating the murders of spring breakers in Neptune, which is understandably cutting into the seaside town's tourist industry. She'll find herself at the center of a mystery in which the wealthy elites are hell-bent on ending an uprising from the working class who rely on the cash influx from hard-partying tourists.

Other familiar faces confirmed to return for the revival include Jason Dohring as Veronica's on-again boyfriend Logan Echolls, Percy Daggs III as Veronica's BFF Wallace Fennel, Francis Capra as Eli "Weevil" Navarro, Enrico Colantoni as Veronica's dad Keith, Ryan Hansen as fan favorite Dick Casablancas and David Starzy as Dick's father Richard.

Creator Rob Thomas will write the first episode and Bell will executive-produce.

Look out for the Veronica Mars revival, which heads to Hulu in 2019.
